The seat is 16" wide which accomodates most people. I am 170 lbs and 5'9" tall and it fits comfortable. A big 250 pound fellow would likely have a problem.

The Maxim is a folding manual adult size wheelchair. FRAME: Tubular carbon steel; stainless steel side panels. SEAT: 16 inch seat width; seat depth 16 inches; seat height 19.5 inches. UPHOLSTERY: Flame retardent, embossed vinyl upholstery with additional padding and a non-stretch liner. ARMRESTS: Full length "Durastat" padded armrests, (has molded plastic base). FOOTRESTS: detachable swinging or fixed elevating legrests with calf supports and lever quad releases for easy operation with limited hand dexterity or strength. WHEELS: 24 inch riveted wheels with heavy duty .120 gauge spokes are standard. CASTERS: Swivelling 8 inch mag-type molded wheels with sealed bearings. WIDTH (folded): 12 inches.
Configured to custom conform solid arm styles, and swing away detachable footrests.
