Fabric: Silk. satan, velvets, brocades, damask, ribbons, Various fancy fabrics
Backing: Black poly - satin
Batt/Fill: None
Construction Techniques: Pieced to a foundation fabric; all seams are embroidery embellished
Description:

Twenty 14" squares set straight - no sashaying
5" black border with multi-colored embroidery at seam line.
Typical construction, odd shapes and sizes of fancy fabrics with embellished seams
Focal point: aqua oval is hat lining
Edge Finish: Knife edge
Quilting Pattern: Back and front are joined at intersections of seams with multi colored ties.
Construction Quality: Very good skilled embroidery
Condition: Very good. Typical shattering of silks is very small. Newly backed. Once crept line repair
Provenance: Made by: Blocks made by unknown maker circa 1880's. Blocks were joined, bordered and backed by quilt members in 2009. Quilt to be used as a fund raiser for interfaith food pantry and alzheimer's research.

History

An anonymous widower passing along his wife treasures gave these twenty 14" squares circa 1880 to the Busy Bee Quilters of Belleview Florida. Mildred Gray pieced them together and along with the club members backed and completed this quilt to use as a fund raiser for the club.
